Playa Langosta is just south of the famous Playa Tamarindo, on the Pacific coast in the province of Guanacaste. This beautiful beach provides a nice alternative from its busy neighbor; it is a lot less developed and is great to visit if you happen to be in the area or are staying in Tamarindo. It has a beautiful white sand beach and is great for surfing. Though not a complete deserted beach, it does offer peace and tranquility and if you are visiting off season you will find yourself almost alone on the beach!
Langosta beach is mostly rocky however there are long stretches of sand in between. People usually take long lazy walks, you can also rent horses if you prefer. Because it is located by the mouth of an estuary, it is excellent for surfing with its great break, and many surfers from Tamarindo like to escape when it gets too crowed there and some actually prefer surfing in Langosta. Being only 2.5kms away, it is possible to walk from one beach to the other.
Playa Langosta is also home to the Hotel Barcelo Playa Langosta. The hotel’s location is really what makes it so special; the sandy beach is wonderful, the sea is gorgeous, the sunsets are always spectacular, the weather is always great, what more can one ask for? Furthermore, it is very close to Las Baulas National Park in Playa Grande, on the northern part of Tamarindo, where the awesome Leather Back turtles come to nest every year, between October and March. If you like more action, there are kayaking and snorkeling tours available all year round , and exciting zip line canopy tours nearby as well. The hotel itself does have good swimming pools and good bars offering sunset cocktails. It has two tennis courts, beach volley ball, and a variety of indoor activities such as pool tables and table tennis, two good restaurants and even a casino!
Playa Langosta has everything a tropical and exotic beach can offer. Good climate all year round, beautiful sand and sea, and good places to stay. It is just 10 minutes away from Tamarindo airport and about an hour away from the international Daniel Oduber Airport in Liberia.
