For many, Playa Flamingo beach means deep sea fishing, and not without a good reason. It has a worldwide reputation as being outstanding for fishing tuna, mahi mahi, marlin, sail fish, swordfish and more. The marina of Flamingo was once the only one found between Acapulco and Panama.
It holds the world famous international sailfish tournament that is sponsored by the Costa Rican Amateur Fishermen’s Club every year in July. If you are more into sailing, there are various day trips that are on offer, hotels lobbies and certain restaurants and bars can provide you with the information that you need.
But there is however much more to it!
Flamingo’s beach has pure white sand and clear water; it is perfect for swimming, surfing and scuba diving. Its exotic marine life will enchant you. Go and visit the nearby national parks and refuges such as the Santa Rosa National Park, or the Palo Verde Natural Reserve. Playa Brasilito and the magnificent Playa Conchal, with her white sand of broken shells, are just a few minutes away south and up north you will find Playa Potrero and the infinitely charming Sugar Beach (Playa Pan de Azucar). If you playing golf, no problem, there is an awesome 18-hole golf course nearby designed by Robert Trent Jones himself!
Flamingo holds some of the most exclusive hotels, condos and villas of the country. The choice of food is incredible, yet, you may just want to enjoy the fresh sea food.
Flamingo is without a doubt a first class choice for a memorable stay in Costa Rica, or if you are travelling in view finding the ideal location for your future home. Its stylish atmosphere and beautiful bay are hard to beat with its beautiful climate under a clear blue sky!
